Dr. Malave and Dr. Wilson have been in practice together since 2008 and have built a respected and widely sought after private cardiology practice.  They have earned a well-deserved reputation of compassionate and comprehensive cardiac care in the Atlanta medical community.

Dr. Hector Malave grew up in Caracas, Venezuela and spent part of his childhood in Buffalo, New York. He attended medical school at the Universidad Central de Venezuela where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1990. He completed postgraduate training in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he later served on the Faculty in the Department of Medicine and the Veterans Affairs Administration Hospital. He completed cardiology and interventional Cardiology fellowship training programs at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he also worked as a research fellow in vascular biology. He is board certified in cardiology and interventional cardiology and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

His major professional interests in cardiology are in the field of coronary artery disease and coronary intervention. Other skill sets include non-invasive imaging including nuclear cardiology and echocardiography, as well as pacemaker implantation. Dr. Malave provides outpatient care at his Sandy Springs office, and has staff privileges at Emory/Saint Joseph’s Hospital, where he is Medical Director of Clinical Cardiology, and at Northside-Atlanta Hospital.

On a personal level he plays the violin, enjoys reading, art and travel, and lives in Atlanta with his wife and two sons.

Dr. Matthew Wilson joined Cardiology of Atlanta in 2008. He grew up in West Virginia where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with honors from West Virginia University. He attended West Virginia University School of Medicine and graduated with honors in 2002 where he was inducted into the national medical honors society, Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his post-graduate medical training at Emory University in internal medicine and subsequent fellowship in cardiology and is board certified in cardiology.

As a general, non-invasive cardiologist, his interests within the field are broad and include non-invasive imaging including echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). He spent a dedicated year at Emory during training acquiring special expertise in these advanced cardiac imaging modalities. He has a special interest in preventive cardiology, lipid management, and teaching.

Dr. Wilson performs consultative cardiology from his Sandy Springs office and has staff privileges at both Emory/Saint Joseph’s Hospital and Northside-Atlanta Hospital.

He enjoys playing guitar and piano, travel, woodworking, and baseball. He lives in Atlanta with his wife and 2 sons. They love miniature dachshunds.
